Hey everyone! December 2025 is flying by so fast, right? Before we know it, we’ll be welcoming 2026 with fresh energy. The end of the year is always a great time for reflection: what we’ve achieved in 2025, and what we want to change in the year ahead?
Many of us set resolutions, but they often fizzle out halfway through. That’s why I’m sharing 10 realistic and achievable goals for 2026, inspired by popular trends in Indonesia like skill upgrades, financial glow-ups, self-healing, and getting closer to family. I’ve categorized these goals to make them easier to follow, plus tips on how to achieve them using the SMART approach (Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Relevant, Time-bound).
- Regular Exercise and a Healthier Body
Goal: Exercise at least 3-4 times a week for 30 minutes.
Why? Physical health is the top resolution for many people. Tips: Start with walking or home yoga, using apps like Nike Training Club. Target: Lose 5-10 kg or be able to run a 5K without getting tired by year-end. - Better Financial Management (Financial Glow-Up)
Goal: Save 20% of monthly income and pay off credit card debt.
A huge trend for 2026! Tips: Create a monthly budget with apps like Money Lover, build an emergency fund of at least 3-6 months’ salary. Read books like “Rich Dad Poor Dad” for inspiration. - Upgrade Skills and Career
Goal: Complete at least 2 online courses or new certifications.
Essential in the AI and digital era! Tips: Choose platforms like Coursera or Dicoding, aim for a salary increase or promotion midway through the year. - More Quality Time with Family/Partner
Goal: Spend at least 1 full day per month with loved ones, no gadgets.
Relationships often get neglected due to busyness. Tips: Plan cheap staycations or regular dinner dates. - Learn Something New (Hobby or Skill)
Goal: Master one new skill, like cooking, a foreign language, or playing a musical instrument.
Makes life more fun! Tips: Dedicate 15 minutes a day, use Duolingo for languages or YouTube for tutorials. - Focus on Mental Health and Self-Healing
Goal: Meditate or journal for 10 minutes every day.
A big Gen Z trend in 2026. Tips: Use apps like Calm or Headspace, or write down 3 things you’re grateful for each night. - Reduce Screen Time and Be More Productive
Goal: Limit social media to a maximum of 1-2 hours per day.
Tips: Activate screen time limits on your phone, replace it with reading books (target 12 books a year). - Travel or Explore New Places
Goal: Visit at least 3 new destinations in Indonesia.
After the pandemic, many are craving travel. Tips: Start with affordable local trips, budget wisely with ticket promotions. - Be More Environmentally Friendly
Goal: Reduce single-use plastic and start regular recycling.
A global trend relevant in Indonesia. Tips: Bring your own tumbler and shopping bag, plant at least 1 tree. - More Spiritual and Grateful
Goal: Regular worship or weekly reflection, perhaps Umrah if possible.
Many are choosing “spiritual resolutions” in 2026. Tips: Start with reading motivational religious books or joining positive communities.
Start Now, Not Later!
These goals aren’t overly ambitious they’re designed to make 2026 your best year yet. The key: Write them in a journal or on a vision board, review monthly, and celebrate small progress. If you slip up one month, just start again don’t give up!
